The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) late on Monday decided in principle to continue the reconciliatory process for cutting a power-sharing deal with former ally Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), vowing to welcome the MQM back in the coalition government despite the heated outburst by former PPP Sindh senior minister Zulfiqar Mirza, who slapped serious allegations against the Altaf Hussain-led party on Sunday.
A private TV channel reported that the PPP had cancelled even the basic party membership of Zulfiqar Mirza in order to exhibited unflinching solidarity with the MQM. The party said Mirza’s allegations were an “unacceptable violation of the party discipline and contrary to the well-thought-out policy of reconciliation envisaged by late Benazir Bhutto”. It also decided to initiate disciplinary action against its former minister.
A PPP source told Pakistan Today that a high-level party meeting, chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari, also decided that all necessary steps would be taken to rebuild the confidence between the MQM and PPP and the party had conveyed its best wishes to MQM chief Altaf Hussain for the very reason.
Altaf has reportedly been under treatment at a hospital in London for the past one week.
The source said that in order to send a strong message of brotherhood to the MQM, the president had made sure that all top party leaders attended the meeting, so that it portrayed that the party had distanced itself away from Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and his claims.
The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Pir Mazharul Haq, Mir Nadir Magsi, Sharjeel Memon, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Agha Siraj Durrani, Abdul Qadir Patel and Syed Khursheed Shah. Former information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira was the only leader from Punjab invited to the meeting. Rukhsana Bangash and President’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar were also present.
The Sindh CM briefed the meeting on the current drive against criminals in Karachi, the steps taken so far and their results and plans for the future. He told the meeting that the party stood united under the party chief and media reports of several PPP leaders joining Zulfiqar Mirza were fictitious.
Talking to reporters, Farhatullah Babar said the meeting endorsed the steps taken by the provincial government and called upon all political forces and citizens to support the provincial government in fighting lawlessness in the city.
He said the meeting reiterated the government’s resolve to maintain law and order in Karachi at all costs and rid the metropolitan city of extortionists and criminals.
It said that the ongoing operation against criminals would continue regardless of their political affiliations until peace was restored to Karachi.
Babar said the meeting also disowned the accusations levelled by Mirza, calling them “unacceptable violation of the party discipline and contrary to the well-thought-out policy of reconciliation envisaged by late Benazir Bhutto”.
The PPP reiterated its resolve to continue the policy of reconciliation to collectively face the myriad of challenges facing the country.

Asif Zardari may be calling himself a tactician but he is bartering Sindhis rights to get his most favoured leader Altaf Hussain. Isn't it deptessing to note that Asif can sacrifice life-long friend Zulfikar Mirza who had guts to speak against a fascist for the sake of twat Alraf Hussain and Rehman Malik.

This means Zardari and therefore PPP are abettors in the this crime against the State.Supreme Court is luckily in session in Karachi.This is bigger and most serious criminal case therefore all attention of the Honourable Court should shift to this treason case against MQM and PPP leadership. Zardari will go to any extent to complete his joint agenda with Altaf.ANP has distanced itself from this.

Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has revealed MQM's evil desighns and its murderous actions. The government of the day should seize upon his information to investigate the accusations levelled by ZM against fascist Altaf Hussain.
The supreme court should ask ZM to be a party when it is discussing the situation in Karachi. Although there is no dearth of witnesses who would be coming forward to speak againsit this dreadful political party but ZM would be the right person who can provide documentary evidence as he he has been at the helm of Home ministry.
The press should also gather courage to come out and play its part in exposing this thug who suddenly has fallen ill and is allegedly hiding in a hospital. He was hundred percent fit and directing his thugs from Edgware and asking people of Karachi to hoard one months' ration. This was his clarion call to his thugs for an insurrection.
Asif Zardari is an opportunist. He wants to complete his 5 year term and wants to make his name in history but and therefore he has no worries about his life long friend ZM but he forgets that he would be fast losing his popularity in Sindh if he continues to pursue his policy of reconciliation.
