The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday said former PPP Sindh senior minister Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations against the party and government high-ups were a deliberate attempt to influence the suo motu proceedings initiated by the Supreme Court over the violence in Karachi. “His allegations against the MQM, the Sindh governor, Rehman Malik, Babar Awan and Agha Siraj Durrani came on a day when law enforcement agencies discovered a torture cell in Lyari. Therefore, he tried to divert the attention and distort the SC’s suo motu proceedings on terrorism in Karachi,” MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari said at a press conference. The MQM had rejected all of Mirza’s allegations the day he levelled them, however, it was the party’s first divulgence to the media. Party leaders belonging to Pashtun and Sindhi communities were also present.
The MQM leader also challenged Mirza to prove his allegations against the party in court. “He should not be the judge, we are ready to stand in the docket,” he said of Mirza’s claims of apprehending targeted killers associated with the MQM. Referring to the Joint Interrogation Team’s reports mentioned by Mirza in his press conference, Sabzwari said every person was innocent until proven guilty. “However, if anybody (affiliated with the MQM) has been arrested, he should be produced in court. The party has never backed criminals and will not do so in the future,” he said. Rejecting Mirza’s claim about the MQM leadership’s involvement in an international plan of breaking the country, he said party chief Altaf Hussain had never said such a thing to anybody. “Instead, Mirza has tried to break the country, but it has been saved by President Asif Ali Zardari,” Sabzwari said.
The MQM leader also rejected Mirza’s allegation that the MQM wanted to eliminate the Pashtuns living in Karachi. “Many Pashto-speaking people are associated with the party, including Sarfaraz Khan Khattak, who is a member of the MQM Coordination Committee,” he said. However, the MQM would not be provoked, he said, asking the party workers and supporters to remain calm. Sabzwari demanded the government take across-the-board action against extortionists and terrorists. “People like Mirza should not be spared,” he added. Sabzwari said the MQM did not need to say all these things under oath of the holy Quran, like Mirza did, as they did not have a past record of lying. He said people had confidence over the party and they knew the truth.
Sabzwari must be reminded of the speech delivered by Altaf Hussain in New Delhi some years ago in which he is clearly seen uttering words like 'the creation of Pakistan is greatest blunder on the earth'.
Altaf Hussain is on the record telling Shaheen Sehbai of Geo that 'whatever happens to Pakistan it does not make any differnce to us'. Here Altaf Hussain is referring to Jinnahpur or mohajiristan.
Besides, recently asking people to hoard one months ration was obviously a call to his followers to stand up against the government in a rebellion.
Thousands of people have been murdered in Karachi by thugs of his party, What are all these activities telling us? Eventual break up of Pakistan.
Zardari would disown his children, parents, sisters, brothers if it comes to protecting his evil power and corrupted billion of dollars. He only owns devil LIKWE MQM,murderers, qartils, munafaks. It is tragic SCP does not ban him from being partisan, political which he has been violating constitution 24 hours in front of SCP.MQM the Zardari r congenital liras, blackmailers, opportunists and enemies of poor and Pakistan.
