Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that he has requested Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to conduct a judicial inquiry into the allegations, levelled against him by Zulfiqar Mirza on Sunday.
“I have requested the prime minister to conduct a judicial inquiry into the matter,” added the minister while talking to the media at the State Guest House on Monday after presiding over a meeting on law and order situation in Karachi.
He said he had appealed to the Supreme Court to impose a ban on collection of skins of sacrificial animals and ‘Fitrana’ by political parties. It will help maintain peace in Karachi, he added.
He said the situation in Karachi had improved but “we will remain vigilant and take strict action against those involved in crimes to ensure establishment of permanent peace. If we receive information about the presence of arms or criminals in the office of any political party, strict action will be taken,” he warned.
He said a joint interrogation team, led by an SSP, had been formed for investigating into the activities of those who were arrested during the operation. The team will send its report to the home secretary.
The minister said the SHOs would be responsible for maintaining peace in their areas, and in case of their failure, action would be taken against them.
He said the prime minister assigned me the task of maintaining peace in Karachi, and I would do it to ensure complete success.

  1. Rehman Malik is a liar. To save Altaf's neck he has been telling stories which could not be believed. For example wives killing their husbands, Taliban murdering people, qbazq mafia and what not. He thinks he can get away with grotesque theories. There is no need for a judicial commission because the apex court has already commenced it's session under the chairmanship of Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. The SC must listen to ZM as well as RM. The interior minister of Pakistan appears to be loyal to Altaf Hussain and he does not care about the target killings though every one believes it is perpetrated by MQM thugs.

So, yes the whole nation would want to see Rehman Malik in the ongoing session of the supreme court in Karachi explain why he has been lying.

  2. This NRO portege has no right to demand a judicial inquiry against Zulfiqar Mirza. He Rehman Malik should be placed in the docks and tried for crimes against humanity.
