The Sindh Irrigation Department has cancelled Eid holidays of its field staff following the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s weather report about heavy rainfall in the province from August 30 to September 3. According to a handout issued on Monday, all officers notified for special duty have been directed to report to their chief engineers. Moreover, the irrigation staff of lower Sindh has been especially directed to take all possible precautionary measures to combat flood situation during heavy rainfalls.
The department has warned of severe action against the officials and other staff if they failed to comply with the orders or caused any delay. All khatedars have been strictly warned not to cause any breaches along any canal or irrigation system to dewater the rainwater from their land.
