Lahoris rushed for last minute Eid shopping as soon as the Eid moon was sighted and planned several things to celebrate Chand Raat on Tuesday. It was a scene of celebrations as markets were full of shoppers in all major areas of Lahore. Children, women and people from all walks of life were seen wondering the markets buying clothes, shoes and other stuff. It was a festive mood on the streets of the city. All major roads of the city were seen full with vehicles. The Main Boulevard Gulberg, Canal Bank Road, Jail Road and other major roads of the city were seen partially clogged.
Mobile networks were blocked as soon as Eid was announced. People were sending and receiving messages as soon as the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced Eid. “Who doesn’t like forwarding Eid greetings to friends, I think this is the best way of touching those who you haven’t talked to in a while”, citizen Ijaz said.
“I love the Eid days of Lahore, everyone seems happy and playful”, citizen Imtiaz at Liberty Roundabout said. He said that Lahore looks in a festive mood already. Imtiaz said that police have done a good job to assure citizens security. The main market areas of Chand Raat festivity remained Fotress Stadium, Liberty Market, G-1 Market Johar Town, Y-Block DHA and The Mall. Ladies were seen getting mehndi at special mehndi stalls. “This is one day that I wait for the whole year”, citizen Huma Khan said. She said that she loved mehndi and Chand Raat is the only night when she enjoys putting mehndi the most. “Mehndi, churiyan and seiwian are the most important ingredients of this eid”, she added. Other than that, traffic police had managed traffic in a laudable way.
Really festivities?? There are families preparing funerals for their members who died in the bullshit violence that goes on.. and you're talking about festivities.. how do you live with yourself knowing that your neighbors might be preparing for burying their loved ones and you're out buying clothes to look nice? No wonder Pakistan and its people suffer on a daily basis.
Happy Eid Mubarek
