Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt is in no mood to quit cricket administration and has asked the Lahore City Cricket Association officials to make way for his election as president of the Lahore body in a democratic way.
October 8 would be officially his last day in the office as PCB chairman and with the ICC wanting democratically elected chief running the board, the PCB chairman has started searching for ways to prolong his tenure in the PCB.
As has been learnt, the PCB chief has asked the LCCA officials to prepare solid platform for his election as the president of the association. And the next one-and-a-half month would be crucial in the LCCA.
It has been learnt that Butt had informed LCCA President Khawaja Nadeem Ahmad about his decision to become LCCA President.
The ICC in its recent report on the PCB asked the board to appoint its chairman according to a proper process and also asked it to stop government intervention. The PCB, following the instructions, had already made required amendment in the PCB constitution and now when the PCB too has been made a democratically elected body, Ijaz Butt has decided to take the proper course with the help of the LCCA and the government alike, which has already stated that whatever amendment the PCB will make, it will honour its verdict.
Now with Butt’s intention of becoming LCCA president to gain the PCB chairmanship once again has countered all the reports that he wanted to rest as he has already tendered his resignation which is lying with President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also chief patron of the PCB.
