IGP orders foolproof security for Eidul Fitr

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Wajid Ali Durrani on Sunday ordered making foolproof security arrangements for Eidul Fitr and ensuring protection of people’s lives and properties. According to a statement, Durrani directed the additional IGP of Karachi and deputy IGPs of Hyderabad and Sukkur to take effective measures for providing ample security to the citizens of the province on the occasion of Eid. He ordered making special security arrangements in the surroundings of mosques, imambargahs and all the other venues where Eid prayers would be offered.
He said that security should be beefed up at all shopping centres across the city, adding that besides deployment of plainclothesmen, watchtowers should be set up around the shopping centres to keep a lookout for miscreants.
He ordered conducting searches at entry and exit points of the metropolitan and improving snap-checking.
He also ordered increasing deployment of motorcycle policemen and ensuring effective patrolling by police vans.
He directed the additional inspector general of the Traffic Police to make effective traffic arrangements for Eid to ensure unhindered flow of traffic.
He also directed deploying policemen along the routes leading to different graveyards as well as making security arrangements in coordination with the city government, law enforcement agencies, and the managements of shopping centres, mosques and imambargahs.
