Three members of a family, including two women, were gunned down during a robbery attempt here on late Sunday night.
Police arrested two robbers, while the others managed to flee.
According to police, a group of about six armed robbers barged into a house located in Kamran Kaley village, City Police Station jurisdiction and started looting valuables at gun point.
The residents of the house resisted to the robbery which led to clash and the dacoits opened fire killing the house owner Qamar Zaman, his wife and mother.
The robbers tried to flee with the looted valuables but in the meantime neighbours had informed police which rushed the scene and cordoned off the house.
The police arrested two robbers after little resistance while their four accomplices managed to flee.
A case has been registered against the detained robbers at City Police Station and raids to arrest the fleeing dacoits were underway.
the killed 3 were knowing by me personally, and my close relative. Haji qamar zaman was a business man and was a nice person. He was also spending time for dawat tablegh. I apeal goverment that the arrested men may be shooted on chowk farooq azam.
I also know the situation a bit. Before shooting the arrested ones it should be confirmed if these two small kids are the real shooters. Even the police are not sure the heinous crime was committed by them. And for your information, the real culprits, six in number have been arrested last night and the two small boys arrested initially on twisted evidence are about to be released, sources in police said. I doubt, someone insider, a fifth columnist, is behind the whole tragedy. we may wait for further investigations for the reality to come to the fore.
The latest development is that the culprits admitted to have committed the crime. They were taken to the crime scene, the house of late Haji Qamar Zaman, where they acted the whole scene again and gave detailed confessional statements to the investigators. I never believed Pakistani police can investigate a case with such commitment and professionalism. At least in this case they have shown high level of professionalism and caliber of conducting investigations in a scientific way. They also dug out the reason behind implicating the two innocent boys, and the children of Haji Qamar Zaman now admit that these two are not killers and in front of media and police they backtracked from their former statements which they say were based on misunderstanding. As supposed by the police and all the villagers from the very beginning, the innocence of the two boys is proven now and they are near to be released. They being shooted at Farooq-e Azam chowk would have been another tragedy of the kind. The real shooters, seven in number, are behind the bars with confession of the crime. We can demand for their shooting at the Chowk instead.
