A prominent activist of PPP and nephew of founder member and PPP Senior Vice Chairman Sheikh Mohammad Rashid, Maj (r) Khalid Mahmood Shiekh announced his disassociation from the party and has joined Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In a statement, Mahmood said that the current leadership of PPP had sidelined time-tested workers of the party such as Dr Israr Shah, Naeed Khan and Safdar Abbasi.
“My family and clan has made great sacrifices to promote the cause of PPP for the sake of Pakistan but now the country is in the grip of lawlessness, poverty and corruption,” Mahmood said. He said that PTI Chief Imran Khan and his party were showing the people the way to get rid of a failed government.
