Hockey Australia has announced that an Indian-based engineering and construction company Lanco Infratech Limited has been named as the sponsor for a new tournament at Perth from October 20-23. Lanco International Super Series is a new tournament created by Hockey Australia aimed at making hockey more exciting than ever before.
The tournament in conjunction with Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting CHOGM will see both Kookaburras & Hockeyroos take on the likes of India, Pakistan, Malaysia and New Zealand, says a press release. According to new rules events for contested by nine-a-side teams as opposed to usual 11, games to be played in 15-minute as opposed to 35-minute halves, goalposts are larger bigger and one player from each team is required to stay in forward half.
