Only one newspaper each for FBR officials

The financial crunch owing to low revenue collection on Saturday forced the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to issue directives to its officers that they were eligible for getting only one newspaper, as the facility of multiple newspapers or periodicals had been withdrawn. According to an official source, the FBR notified that all its officers would be allowed to purchase only one newspaper on behalf of the organisation, as the facility of more than one newspaper, periodicals or magazines had been withdrawn.
He further said the notification in this regard had been issued and if any officer was interested in a particular newspaper or periodical, he could avail the facility at the library where all such reading material would be available. The source said the FBR notification was part of the austerity measures announced by the Ministry of Finance on August 17, whereby the purchase of all vehicles and physical assets had been banned along with restriction in official dinners and cut by 20 percent in expenditures on travelling allowances, stationary, entertainment, advertisement, repair and maintenance and utilities.
