NA speaker forms body on Karachi, Quetta situation

National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza on Sunday notified a special committee on law and order situation in Karachi and Quetta. The speaker constituted the special committee in pursuance of the motion tabled under Rule 244 (B) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 2007 and unanimously adopted by the house on August 12, 2011. The special committee has been authorised to look into the law and order situation in Karachi and Quetta and report to the house with recommendations within two months.
The committee will consist of Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Noor Alam Khan, Dr Ayatullah Durrani, Abdul Qadir Patel, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Zahid Hamid, Rana Tanvir Hussain, Ghous Bakhsh Khan Maher, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Ms Zubaida Jalal, Syed Haider Abass Rizvi, Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Haji Khuda Bakhsh Rajar. The PPP has five MNAs in the committee, the PML-N four, the PML-Q three and the MQM has two parliamentarians in the committee. One member each from the JUI-F, ANP and PML-F has been included in the committee.
