Model Town Judicial Magistrate Imran Tariq on Saturday granted post-arrest bail before the fixed date of hearing to Akbar and Sadiq, who were indicted for kidnapping of a lawyer.
The Factory Area Police registered a case for lawyer Abdul Hafeez’s abduction on March 8. The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) pressurised policemen to recover the abducted lawyer but before that the inspector general of police (IGP) took notice, Hafeez was thrown near Sahiwal after three and a half months of his abduction. Police arrested the accused after the lawyer nominated before the magistrate under Section 161 of the CrPC.
The accused filed for post-arrest bail and the hearing was fixed for August 27. The counsel of the abducted lawyer, Zafar Abbas Gilani, appeared before the judicial magistrate to contest the bail applications but found out that the accused had been granted bails prior to the fixed date. The magistrate allegedly granted the bail, as he was pressurised by LBA Vice-President Mian Hafeez.
