Punjab Health Secretary Jahanzeb Khan on Saturday filed a charge sheet against Dr Nadeem Anwar of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Pattoki for professional irresponsibility and involvement in private practice.
Chairing a meeting to review the performances of Kasur District and Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals, Jahanzeb Khan took serious notice of doctors’ involvement in private practice as the number of patients and delivery cases in government hospitals was low. He told the medical superintendents to identify doctors, nurses and lady health visitors responsible.
Jahanzeb Khan said that the medical officers should be recruited by the Punjab Public Service Commission for the vacant posts and that instead of contractual appointments posts for gazetted and non-gazetted employees should be filled on a regular basis. He told the Punjab Health Director General to send senior officers for the inspection of District and Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals. A third-party evaluation of government hospitals would be conducted, he added.
