CDA staff get their salaries after protest

The employees of the Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s Environment Directorate on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the administration for not releasing salaries before Eid. They gathered outside the Environment Directorate office and blocked the 9th Avenue with burning tyres.
The protesters said the government had pledged to disburse salaries on August 25, but the CDA failed to fulfil the promise even after the passage of the announced date. They said it was difficult to celebrate Eid without getting salaries as they were sustaining themselves in alarming inflation.
Enraged protesters also held the senior officers responsible for the delay in the release of salaries.
β€œIt is the responsibility of the high-ups to pay salaries before Eid, as we have to buy new clothes for our children,” said Zahid Mughal, a protesting employee.
However after the assurance of some officials, the protesters dispersed peacefully. An official in the environment directorate told Pakistan Today that just after the one-hour protest, the administration distributed salaries to the employees. He alleged that the protest was staged by some employees for vested interest. The official added that the delay in transferring the salaries in the bank accounts of the authority worth more than 10 million rupees caused a delay in provision of salaries.
