An accountability court on Saturday extended the judicial remand of Sheikh Afzal until September 10.
Afzal, who is owner of the Haris Steel Mill, was accused of misappropriating a loan of Rs 33.3 million. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sought extension in his judicial remand on account of his illness and presented a medical certificate in court.
Separately, an accountability court extended the judicial remand of former Haj director Rao Shakeel Ahmed until September 10. Shakeel was accused of maintaining several illegal bank accounts. The court told NAB authorities to submit an investigation report against the accused by the next date of hearing.
Also on Saturday, an accountability court extended the judicial remand of Muhammad Adnan until September 10. Adnan allegedly forged his identity as a policeman and transferred a large amount of money from the accountant general’s (AG) office to his account during last year. The court told NAB authorities to file a reference against the accused by the next date of hearing.
In another development, an accountability court extended the physical remand of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rana Mansoorul Haq’s father Anwar Khan until September 10. Anwar, the owner of Speedy Wheels, along with Rana Qaisar Nazir was accused of corruption.
