Shahbaz Taseer – making a mark in the business

The son of assassinated former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, Shahbaz Taseer was well known in business sector and had a reputation of having an astute business mind, friends of Shahbaz Taseer told Pakistan Today on Friday. Seeking anonymity, a close friend of Shahbaz said that he was doing well in business. “He had negotiated the issues that arose in the business after the assassination of his father successfully”, he said.
He said he had seen Shahbaz near the Khursheed Mehmood Qasoori Road a few days prior to his abduction. He said Shahbaz was with a friend then and was without any guard. “Shahbaz disliked taking guards with him and was usually seen alone or with friends after office timings. However, I don’t know if he takes guards with him to work,” he added. He said that Shahbaz showed more interest in his father’s business compared to other members of the family. “He really idolized his father’s business personality and followed his example when making business deals,” he added.
“Shahbaz was on track to becoming a well-respected businessman. He appeared more driven, compared to his younger brother, to success in business,” he said. Shahbaz studied at Aitchison College, Lahore American School and then left for abroad for further studies. He was married to Maheen Ghani when Salmaan Taseer was Punjab Governor in early 2010. Shahbaz Taseer was the Chief Executive Director of First Capital Securities Corporation which fell under Salmaan Taseer’s business empire, First Capital Group LTD.
Shahbaz Taseer was the eldest son of ex-Governor Salmaan Taseer from his wife Anma Taseer. He had two siblings, Sheharyar and Sheharbano.
