The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has welcomed the government’s decision of announcing special pay-scales for doctors serving in hospitals administered by the federal government. Office-bearers of PMA thanked Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Federal Secretary Nargis Sethi for separate pay-scales for doctors, thus giving the fraternity a separate social status.
PMA demanded the Punjab government follow in the federal government’s footsteps of announcing similar pay-scales for doctors in all hospitals of Punjab. Lahore PMA President Dr Tanvir Ahmad, General Secretary Dr Izhar Ahmad Chaudhary and other members including Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Yasmeen and Dr Aleem congratulated the doctors’ community leadership; Professor Ajmal Naqvi, Dr Sajid Abbasi, Dr Taqi Anwar, Dr Sarwar and Dr Qamar Saeed for advocating and securing the rights of doctors.
