The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU)’s third merit list for pre-medical candidates was a disappointment to many as the merit dropped only by 7 numbers, Pakistan Today learned on Friday.
In the second list, the pre-medical merit was 968 while in the third one it was 961. This year’s LCWU merit was considerably higher compared to last year’s closing merit of 946. It was noted that female students were worried because of the minor decrease in merit in the third list. Many wishing to pursue medicine as a career expressed hope to get a place in pre-medical at other colleges in the city, if not LCWU.
Meanwhile, LCWU has issued the schedule for MA Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) admissions. Registrar Dr Hamala Khalid said MA TESOL was a two-year evening programme designed for in-service English teachers at the school, college and university levels, as well as fresh graduates intending to pursue teaching as a career. She said students with a minimum qualification of 14-years and bachelors or masters degree from any recognised university were eligible to apply.
Students holding diplomas in TESOL, ELT or TEFL from any recognised college/university may directly join part II of the MA TESOL programme, she added. “Admission forms are available with the university until September 7. Interviews will be held on September 14 and merit list will be displayed on September 20. Classes for the programme will commence on October 3,” said the registrar.
