Int’l donors willing to fund projects in KP, says minister

hyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Provincial Minister Rahim Dad Khan said on Saturday that international donors including the European Union (EU) and Japan were interested in funding developmental projects in the province as the government had ensured transparency and was effectively utilising funds.
In a meeting of the UN Refugee Affected and Hosting Area Programme (RAHA) and other projects under the Special Development Unit of Planning and Development, Khan was informed that the EU would disburse 25 million euros for the RAHA programme in the next four years.
The Provincial Programme Manager Liaqat Ali Khan said Rs 194.8 million had been allocated for the construction of small and major infrastructures schemes, adding that the RAHA programme had initiated skill development and income generation programmes. He said the RAHA programme was helping vulnerable groups in reviving their livelihood as they were being trained on employable skills.
The senior minister urged transparency in implementation of infrastructures schemes and said that neglected and vulnerable groups should be given priority in selection of infrastructure and skill training schemes. He said further that criteria should be developed for selecting individuals for training. The provincial minister said donors trusted his government on the utilisation of funds.
Secretary P and D Department Saleem Khan, SDU Director General and RAHA National Project Director Roohullah Khan, SDU Chief Amir Khattak and Provincial Programme Manager Liaqat Ali Khan were also present on the occasion.
