A retired army officer and a police constable were killed while two other policemen were injured in a clash with militants in Kohat on Saturday.
According to details, unidentified militants tried to kidnap Col Shakeel when he was on his way to the mosque to offer Fajar prayers in Defence Colony. To this, a police contingent tried to stop the militants, on which the miscreants opened fire and gunned down Shakeel and a police constable while two other policemen including an assistant sub inspector were also injured. The militants managed to escape after the incident. Officials said the security forces initiated a search operation in Jarma and Tangi Banda soon after the incident.
