An accountability court (AC) summoned two prosecution witnesses on Thursday to record their statements in a reference filed against former National Assembly member from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Suhail Zia Butt for September 13.
The court could not hold its proceeding because of the absence of the witnesses. The reference has been filed against Butt alleging that former lawmaker had received two million rupees from National Industrial Co-operative Corporation to evict the illegal occupants of Ahmad Mansion (a property owned by NICFC).
Court extends detention of former LDA officer: An accountability court (AC) extended on Thursday the remand of a former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) officer, Zulqarnain Shah, until September 8.
Shah is facing a trial on the charges of illegal verification of property documents, which enabled several citizens to get loans worth Rs 150 million from the National Bank of Pakistan.
The court ordered the National Accountability Bureau authorities to complete the investigation beofore the next date of the hearing.

Accused Nazeer Ahmad Sindhu, a realtor and builder along with his two sons named, Naved Ahmad Sindhu and Nadeem Ahmad Sindhu are facing charges of fake allotment of 14 plots in Model Town Extension till September 8.
The prosecution holds that Sindhu illegally got 14 plots in Model Town Extension allotted to his sons in connivance with Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Town Planning former director Masood Ahmad Qazi. The court while extending the remand ordered the investigation officials to complete the probe before the next hearing.
Two drug smugglers awarded death sentence: Additional District and Sessions Judge Abu-ul-Hasnat Zurqarnain Chaudhry awarded death sentence to two accused Nosherwan and Noor Shad on Thursday after they had been found guiltily of possessing 87-kilogram “charas” (hashish).
Millat Park Police had arrested them in 2008 and recovered 87 kilogram “Charas” from them. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 200,000 on the convicts.
