Widespread rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) today (Friday) while scattered rain with thundershowers and isolated heavy falls are expected in Sindh and Eastern Balochistan, the Met Office informed on Thursday.
Hot weather prevailed in the city on Thursday, as the mercury touched 35 degrees Celsius. The Met Office warned that heavy falls might cause urban and flash flooding in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and AJK. Moderate flooding was likely to hit DG Khan and Rajanpur due to moderate to heavy rains in the Suleiman Range during August 25 to 26. Flooded areas of lower Sindh would receive more rains and thundershowers.
Around 294 millimetres of rain was recorded in Kohat, 73 in Jhelum, 69 in Mangla, 51 in Balakot, 30 in Malamjabba, 28 in Saidu Sharif, 25 in Peshawar, 22 in Khuzzdar, 18 in Gujrat and Lower Dir, 16 in Dir and 15 millimetres of rain was recorded in Parachinar and Karachi Airport Area on Thursday. The highest temperature was recorded in Dalbadain where the mercury touched 43 degrees Celsius.
