After hundreds of target killings, burning of the city, useless debates, political tug-of-war and mud-slinging, now our Supreme Court has stepped in to notice the Karachi issue. I don’t know what kind of modus operandi the Supreme Court is going to adopt and it is moot whether this intervention will be of any help.
Some thoughts: why was this not done before? What was the SC waiting for? Why have the political stakeholders and local administration not been able to deliver? Why are only the Rangers considered capable of eradicating the culprits and not the police? Why is an army operation being labelled as the only option in Karachi? These questions remain unanswered.
