Shahbaz Taseer, the son of slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer, was kidnapped here on Friday. According to the police, Shahbaz Taseer was kidnapped on gunpoint from Gulberg Chowk.
An eyewitness said that he was kidnapped by four bearded kidnappers, who were riding motorcycles, while there were also some other kidnappers in a red car.
Police said that Shahbaz was traveling by his car (Number LZT 1) without his personal security guards at the time of his abduction.
Passport and other important documents were recovered from Taseer’s car.
SSP Abdul Razzak Cheema said that police was investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has directed law enforcement agencies to ensure quick recovery of Salman Taseer’s son. He said that all efforts would be made to ensure recovery of Shahbaz.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that police has been asked to set up check points in every province.
