At least seven men released from Indian jails reached Pakistan through Wahga Border on Thursday morning.
Indian forces had captured the Pakistani men for illegally crossing the border.
Upon arrival, Pakistan Rangers arrested four out of the seven men. Sources said they were taken into custody for routine investigation.
Ironically, out of those three who were cleared at the border, two were found mentally challenged. Edhi officials suspected that Indian army might have subjected them to torture. Edhi doctors confirmed that both 45-year-old Allah Ditta and 22-year-old Shaukat Ali were mentally challenged. The only released man who finally made it through the border was 21-yaer-old Mohammed Yasir.
He told Pakistan Today that he was a resident of Balakot and Indian army had arrested him four years ago, on September 21 2007, when he was collecting firewood in Balakot suburbs. He said the last 4 years of his life had been painful because of torture. He said during the first days of his arrest he was tortured for days. He said he was finally released from India’s Santa Jail in Kot Bhalwal.

  1. Government of India is humbly requested to consider immediate release/repatriation of 14-Pakistani prisoners who are still languishing in different Indian jails despite the fact their jail terms have been completed and also whose national status has been confirmed by the government of Pakistan. My son Sikandar-e-Azam Sani s/o Muhammad Khalid Butt has completed his 3-year jail sentence on 30th June, 2011. His nationality status has also been verified/confirmed by the MOI-GOP and conveyed to the PHC in New Delhi accordingly. PHC has to prepare his 'emergency travel certificate.'

  2. I was told by a very responsible senior officer of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi that the amount of fine had been paid by PHC. Now, I have come to know through a reliable source that due to default in payment of fine amounting to Rs.3000/- Mr. Sikandar-e-Azam Sani s/o Muhammad Khalid Butt would complete his 6-months additional rigorous imprisonment on 20th January, 2012. Originally, he was convicted under section 14 of Indian's Foreign Act & sentenced for 3-years rigorous imprisonment. I am expecting that Pakistani High Commission will issue/prepare his "emergency travel certificate/document" for his immediate repatriation. His nationality status being a Pakistani national/citizen by birth has already been verified/confirmed by the Ministry of Interior, government of Pakistan and forwarded to the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi accordingly. Ministry of Foreign Affairs is requested to ensure early release/repatriation of my son who is presently confined in the central jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
