UET IB&M’s merit list delayed further

Delay in the compilation of merit list for University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Institute of Business and Management (IB&M) has raised questions over the performance of the varsity in the recent years. Students seeking admission in the MBA programme of IB&M are facing difficulty applying elsewhere because of the deadline to submit admission and tuition fees.
Adding to the miseries of the students, the UET administration has said the merit lists would now be announced after the Eid holidays. Meanwhile the students who cleared the entry test got text messages on Wednesday to appear for the interviews on August 27. Hundreds of students who appeared in the test this year are still confused about their future.
The entry test took place on August 6 and the management said the result would be announced within a week but so far neither have the results been uploaded on the university nor displayed at the notice boards of the institute. The newly built IB&M promised to impart quality business education on affordable fees but the institute’s recent performance has raised questions about the claims.
The entry test which took place on August 6 was also held after a two-week delay. The UET has already been going through a huge controversy after the engineering school’s entry test was leaked. An agrieved student, Umer, told Pakistan Today that UET IB&M was more affordable compared to all other private varsities and constant delays in results on the part of IB&M could put his future in jeopardy.
IB&M Director Dr Ali Sajid told Pakistan Today that the result was ready but was delayed because of Ramadan as the work timings were reduced. He hoped that the merit lists would be released soon after Eid. Students said first they had to wait for the test, then for the result and now for the interview and its result. The delays could be disastrous for students who have applied in the other varsities as they might end up getting no place at all.
