The Sindh High Court on Thursday has accepted bail pleas of convicts in Sarfraz Shah murder case.
According to Media Reports, Rangers troop sentenced to death has appealed against his capital punishment and the rest of the convicts, including Afsar Khan who handed over Sarfraz to Rangers in the park, have all appealed against life imprisonment.
The court had sentenced them a few days ago. Earlier, their pleas to carry out their case’s proceedings as normal without invoking the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) were rejected before conviction.
The three counsel for the convicts would plead again that their clients couldn’t be sentenced under the ATA. The SHC is yet to set a date for hearing their bail pleas.
Sarfraz was killed by the paramilitary troops in a park in a blood-curdling episode that was shown on national TV as the footage had been captured secretly. The incident had sparked a wave of anger across the country, with human rights organisations demanding harshest of punishment for the killers.
