Police’s weekly holidays cancelled

Lahore Police Operations Deputy Inspector General Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said on Wednesday that the leaves of the policemen working in the city had been cancelled until Eidul Fitr.
Addressing a news conference here at his office, he said the decision had been made to curb crime in the provincial capital. Dogar said the policemen were efficiently doing their duty and their weekly offs had been cancelled for better security arrangements on coming Eid. He said there had been a surge in the city’s crime rate ahead of Eid and extra police squads were being deployed in commercial areas of the city.
He said Cantt Division Police had arrested 17 members of four different gangs involved in robberies, street crimes and motorbike snatching cases. He said police also seized Rs 4 million in cash, 7 motorbikes, 16 tola gold ornaments and 7 mobile phones from them.
