At a time when the federal government is opposing demands for deployment of the army in Karachi, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Nisar Ali Khan came to its rescue by taking the same stance on the issue.
Strongly opposing to the demands, Nisar said Karachi would prove a quagmire for the army, adding that who were demanding its deployment in the restive city did not wish the army well.
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Nisar also dissolved all special and sub-committees of the PAC. According to a press release issued by his office, Nisar directed the PAC Secretariat to suspend the formation and meetings of the subordinate special committees. “Karachi violence is not merely an administrative issue, rather it is a political problem as every militant group enjoys the backing of some political party,” he said, adding that if the army once entered the narrow, dark streets of Karachi, it be would BE stuck there.
“If the government intends to give some role to the army under the constitution in Karachi, it should bring the proposal to parliament for debate,” Nisar said. Criticising the appointment of Akhtar Buland Rana as auditor general of Pakistan, Nisar said the government’s plot to stop the PAC from working had come to surface as it appointed a controversial man on the post. Meanwhile, a government spokesman regretted the media campaign against Rana.
He said the officer was the most senior officer of the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service in BPS-22 and was serving as the additional auditor general Pakistan before his current appointment.

  1. As Mr Khan is narrow visionary personality and has not a deeper and realistic view about the politics and political issues so he always speaks on no issue, his vision can be compared with the view of any lay man, so dont care his criticism.

  2. Why! Is the MNA and leader of Opposition afraid that the army will clean the quagmire created by incompetency of the previous and present Parliament.
