Monsoon is likely to continue in the country during the next seven days resulting in widespread rains with isolated heavy falls, the Met Office informed on Wednesday. The city was hit by rain of 25 millimetres at airport area and 11 millimetres around the city.
Rain inundated various roads of the city for a second day in a row including Multan Road, Ichchra and Garden Town. Only one hour of rain submerged low lying areas of the city, causing traffic jams. Rain made the weather pleasant and ended muggy conditions. Around 85 percent humidity was recorded in the city on Wednesday morning, which dropped to 76 percent in the evening.
Dalbadain was again the hottest area of the country where the mercury touched 46 degrees Celsius. Around 84 millimetres of rain was recorded in Rawalakot, 49 in Kotli, 45 in Sialkot, 31 in Bahawalnagar, 29 in Joharabad, 18 in Sialkot and Gujrat while 16 millimetres were recorded in Jhelum on Wednesday. Widespread rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy falls were expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir while thundershowers and scattered rain with isolated heavy falls were expected in Sindh and Eastern Balochistan during the next four to five days.
Heavy falls might cause urban and flash flooding in the said areas. The flooded areas of lower Sindh would receive more rains and thundershowers during the present week.
