Five ‘target killers and extortionists’ remanded

Five suspects allegedly involved in targeted killings and money extortion in the city were remanded into police custody in different courts of judicial magistrates on Wednesday. 
Judicial Magistrate Azizullah Khoso granted the remand of two alleged extortionists, Ashraf and Aamir, in police custody for a day.
According to the police, the suspects were arrested red-handed while demanding bhatta (extortion money) from the shopkeepers within the Baldia police station limits.
Meanwhile, the Baldia police presented an alleged target killer named Aijaz alias Chotoo before Judicial Magistrate Ashfaq Ahmed Nizami but could not get the remand of the suspect due to lack of time.
The accused will be again presented in the court on Thursday (today). Police said that Chotoo belongs to a major political party and has confessed involvement in different target killings incidents.
Moreover, five suspects including Shahnawaz, Rafiq, Naeem and Mustafa allegedly involved in targeted killings were brought before Judicial Magistrate Naeem. The alleged accused were brought to the court in the presence of strict police security.
The police sought their physical remand for further interrogation and the court remanded the suspects into police custody until August 29.
The alleged accused have been booked in different cases of targeted killings and anti-terrorism court administrative Judge Justice Maqbool Baqar had also allowed their remand up to August 29 in another case of grenade attack on Wednesday.
According to the police, the suspects were arrested during snap checking in the Nazimabad area.
The senior superintendent of police, Central, in his press conference, had also claimed that the suspects belong to the Akram Baoch group involved in Lyari gang war and, during initial interrogation, have confessed involvement in several incidents of targeted killings.
