Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) parliamentarians in the Punjab Assembly have submitted an adjournment motion in assembly secretariat asking the Punjab Chief Minister about the reconstruction of 2,000 public schools washed away in last year floods. PML-Q members Amir Sultan Cheema, Qamar Hayat Kathia and Chaudhary Abdullah Yusuf submitted the adjournment motion on Wednesday.
They alleged the provincial government should have focused on the reconstruction of schools devastated in last year floods instead of Danish schools if it was serious in promoting free education amongst needy children. They said that provincial government has budgeted Rs 3 billion for Danish schools in the current fiscal year while 1,100 schools could be established with the money.
PML-Q members demanded the immediate reconstruction of flood-hit schools, most of which were located in South Punjab.
