The Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting was informed of a Rs 1.6 billion deficit Radio Pakistan was currently facing, in a meeting held on Tuesday. The standing committee meeting was held with Senator Haji Ghulam Ali in the chair.
Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Director General Murtza Solangi told the committee that inflation over the years had increased manifold but the budget of his organisation had not been raised. This he said had led to the failure of in-time salary disbursement to employees and artists.
Murtaza also told the committee about problems faced by PBC on account of old radio transmitters.
