Control dengue, CM tells Health Department

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed all departments concerned to utilise their resources to control the dengue virus outbreak and warned negligence will not be tolerated.
He ordered the division of Lahore into nine sectors and assigned duties to ministers and elected representatives to personally supervise the campaign against the dengue virus as well as visit hospitals to monitor treatment facilities for dengue patients. The chief minister was presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for controlling dengue virus on Tuesday.
Addressing the meeting, the CM directed the Health Department, local government and district administration to gear up efforts against the dengue virus while accelerating the fumigation process. Besides towns, he said, the spray should also be conducted in houses where dengue cases were detected. “The control of the dengue virus is the collective responsibility of all departments,” he added.
He directed the education minister to assign duties to elected representatives in various sectors and also keep him informed about their visits. He directed the Health Secretary to visit Gujranwala and Faisalabad to review arrangements against dengue virus. Earlier, Secretary Health Jehanzeb Khan briefed the meeting on the measures taken to control the dengue virus.
Mobile hospitals: Separately, Shahbaz said the provision of modern health facilities to the people of far-flung areas was a top-priority on his government. Addressing a meeting reviewing the performance of mobile hospitals in far-flung provinces, he said the project of mobile hospitals was yielding positive results.
He said six mobile hospitals were providing treatment in backward districts and the scope of mobile hospitals will be extended to all tehsils of the province under a phased programme. He issued instructions for to conduct a third-party audit to evaluate the performance of the six mobile health units and constituted a three-member committee for the purchase of more mobile hospitals.
