Federal Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Monday it would not be a wise decision to seek the help of the army to restore peace in Karachi. Addressing a public meeting at village Kahliyaan in Bajwat, the federal minister said anti-Pakistan elements were destabilising Karachi to damage the economy of the country.
She said all the “no-go areas” in Karachi would be eliminated and every one would be able to go there. She said there was no need to seek the help of the army to restore peace in Karachi, adding the PPP government was holding high-level consultations with the MQM, ANP and other main political parties to find out a peaceful and political solution to the Karachi issue.
She hoped the government would be able to maintain peace and find a political solution to the Karachi unrest soon. The federal minister said terrorists had taken shelter in Karachi after escaping from the areas where the war on terrorism was going on.
