The Drug Enforcement Cell of the Pakistan Customs’ Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, Karachi Airport has seized 73.5 kg fine quality heroin worth over Rs 750 million in the international market.
“The drugs were concealed in a huge consignment of herbal medicines,” said Karachi Customs Chief Collector Razia Sultan while addressing a press conference on Monday.
She said the accused drug-trafficker Ghulam Mustafa and two officials of Customs have also been arrested.
She said the action took place in pursuance of information passed on by Manzoor Hussain Memon, the additional collector of Customs at the Jinnah International Airport, about an attempt to smuggle contraband heroin out of Pakistan under the garb of medicines in commercial quantity, in connivance with Customs officials.
