Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid expressed serious concerns on Monday over the killing of KWSB operational employees. Farid was addressing an emergency meeting convened after the murder of four KWSB officials in the Garden area and a superintendent engineer in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, Farid termed the killing of KWSB employees a plan to jeopardise the city’s water supply and demanded that the provincial government should ensure security for its employees without any bias of caste or ethnicity.
Expressing his concerns over the situation, Farid said that if law and order situation remains unchanged, the water supply to the city will be severely affected and may lead to extreme shortage of water in the provincial capital. “The KWSB officials, despite the volatile situation of the city and targeted killings have been performing their duties with complete fervour for the past few days,” he said. The KWSB MD condoled with the bereaved families on their loss. Fateha has also been arranged on Tuesday (today) at the water utility chairman’s secretariat to mourn the killing of the staff members.
