Several villages flooded as India releases more water into Sutlej

LAHORE/BADIN – India on Sunday released more water in the Sutlej River that led to flooding in several villages of Kasur district. Reportedly, 57,000 cusecs of water was flowing through Gunda Singhwala junction on Sunday. The continuous rise in Sutlej’s water level inundated several villages, with the water level at Kakar post recorded at more than 18 feet.
Rescue 1122 personnel are reportedly busy in rescue activities and are helping stranded people move to safety. In Badin, a 50-foot breach was reported at Tando Ghulam Ali, and flood-hit people were facing difficulties in receiving aid.
