Police, banks to collaborate for security

The capital police and bank administrations will make collective efforts to ensure effective security arrangements and curb incidents of dacoity and robbery. The decision was made on Monday in a meeting between Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan and officials of various banks. Superintendent of Police Muhammad Ilyas and other police officials were also present in the meeting, according to a press statement. The IGP asked the bank officials to install CCTV cameras and accurate security alarms in their banks. He said at least two gunmen should man each bank and must get firing practice once a month. He said effective arrangements should be made for transferring money from the bank to other banks. Meanwhile, the IGP also held a meeting with the office-bearers of various housing societies and discussed with them the security arrangements in their areas. The IGP suggested that bank administrators and office bearers of housing societies hire the services of retired army men, whose transportation, uniform and duty timings would be the responsibility of the Islamabad Police and salary the liability of banks and housing societies.
