Petition filed in SC seeking army’s assistance in Karachi

Following a petition filed in Sindh High Court, regarding Army’s assistance in Karachi crisis, a petition has also been filed in the Supreme Court, regarding the issue.
The petitioner, a citizen of Lahore Tariq Asad advocate, while nominating PM, interior minister, chief secretary Sindh, and Provincial home minister Sindh, as defendants has prayed in his constitutional petition that Law and order situation had gone beyond the control of Sindh police and Rangers.
He also cited requests by various political parties, including MQM, ANP, and PML-N, asking for Army’s help in containing the crisis, while federal government was trying to stall the issue under various pretexts.
The petitioner has requested the Apex Court to help maintain law and order in the Metropolis, and while evoking article 232, should declare emergency in Sindh province and order deployment of Army in Karachi in accordance with article 245.
