Moonis Elahi’s application dismissed

District and Session Judge Lahore Mujahid Mustaqeem on Monday dismissed an application filed by Moonis Elahi requesting the court to initiate contempt of court proceeding against investigation officer of NICL scam Zafar Qureshi who ensured adjournment in the hearing of an application filed by accused for his acquittal in the scam.
Moonis Elahi had submitted in his application that requesting the court from Zafar Qureshi to not to decide the acquittal application of accused until he (Qureshi) did not complete his investigation and submit complete challan in the case.
Moonis further submitted that Zafar Qureshi also humiliated the court decorum by sending a fax message in this regard instead of appearing in person before the court.
The judge while dismissing Moonis Elahis’s application held that the court had already issued directions to Zafar Qureshi to appear in-person before court in future and whereas is the matter of seeking adjournment in the hearing for the filing of new challan it is constitutional right of investigation officer to complete the investigations properly.
Meanwhile, the court also dismissed post arrest bail applications filed by co-accused in the scam Rizwan Bhatti and Muhammad Khalil.
