LHC nullifies PPSC posts’ advertisement on age limits

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Mansoor Ali Shah on Monday set aside the advertisement made by Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in which the upper age limit concession was denied to the private applicants for various posts in the provincial public departments.
In the detailed judegment the court has nullified the advertisement and has directed the commission to re-determine the upper age limit of the applicants after consulting all stakeholders and issue a fresh advertisement.
The petitioners had contended that the applicants get concessions in terms of upper age limit for various posts of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD).
Separately, the LHC issued a notice to the Punjab government to a respond to a petition filed against the public hospitals where nepotism is being exercised and jobs of the lower staff and paramedics are being given out through sources.
The petitioner Nadeem Aslam complained that politically motivated appointments were being made for posts in public hospitals and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz contacts and sources were required to acquire these posts. He requested the court to nullify all such appointments that had been made on the basis of nepotism. The court has directed the respondent to file a reply to the petition by September 8.
Reply sought on petition
acknowledging Christians: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Monday issued notice to the Punjab government seeking reply on a petition seeking court orders to include the achievements of Pakistani Christians in academic syllabi at every level.
Advocate Nathanial Gill submitted that Christians played an important role in Pakistan’s creation and sacrificed along with Muslims. Gill said that unfortunately, sacrifices and services of Christians for Pakistan were being ignored and not included in any syllabi at every level.
