Dengue fever is on the rise as the total number of people infected has crossed 400 in the province, Pakistan Today learned on Sunday. Around 73 cases were reported on Sunday alone, out of which 66 patients were diagnosed in Lahore while two in Sheikhupura and one each in Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Pakpattan.
Contrary to the fast-paced dengue infection, the Health Department and the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) are showing a slower response to the epidemic. The families of infected patients have slammed the Health Department and CDGL’s claims of fumigating the neighbourhoods. Doctors have warned that the epidemic could only be controlled by eradicating dengue-carrier mosquitoes from the city.
