Ansar Burney Trust International chairman and former federal minister for human rights, Ansar Burney on Sunday announced kicking off a massive anti-corruption and anti-terrorism campaign after Eid.
According to a press release, Burney said Pakistan was currently faced with a dire and painful period in its history, with rampant corruption and terrorism destroying the very fabric of the society. “The politicians have joined hands in bringing the country to the brink of destruction. They have snatched national wealth, bankrupted institutions, sold off resources and even our sovereignty,” Burney said.
“The people have no food or water, no shelter, no electricity, no education, no healthcare, no jobs and no security. Every basic necessity has been stolen from us as a result of the rampant and unchecked corruption,” he added. “Look where we stand today, the very people we elected to protect us are now responsible for dozens of dead bodies across the country. Murderers and plunderers now hold most important posts in the country,” he said.
“It is now up to the civil society to take steps to rid the country of this evil before it is too late and the Ansar Burney Trust announces to kick start a massive anti-corruption campaign and movement after Eid as a first step towards saving our country,” the press release said, adding that “the purpose is to bring the nation together and make a stand that corruption will no longer be tolerated and to expose the corrupt, whether they are in politics, bureaucracy, education institutions, law enforcement agencies, businesses, charities, sports or even the judiciary”.

  1. This a famous slogan in Pakistan…and innocent Pakistani’s join whom so ever comes up with this “buzz”. Wake Up! Get some life.
Two things go against him which needs clarification:
    1. Friendship with a sitting Governor who is charged with the murder of (angle of our times) Mr. Hakim Saeed Shaheed
    2. Somalia incident and transaction of money in million plus dollars are still questionable.

  2. Pakistan's Anna Hazare has finally stood up! Think twice Mr. Burney before you kick off this campaign against corruption. The crocodiles in Pakistani lakes are too big in size.
I wish you all the best and hope you get the same kind of response as witnessed in India.

  3. Well done Burney! 'Qadam Barhao, hum tumharay saath hein'. May God help you in this noble intention/ endeavour

  4. His association with Ishrat Enad should be an instant disqualification for his planned action. The whole world knows Ishrat Ebad has been thrust on Sindh by weak government and Mr Burney must be fully aware that Ishrat Ebad owns a large house in Canada and is also owner of property in Dubai. Mr Burney knows that Ishrat Ebad was a wanted criminal and should have been facing justices in the courts but thanks to the benefactor of MQM Gen Musharraf and coward Zardari he is still occupying governor's manson. Mr Burneyis association with Ishrat Ebad recently in collecting more than 2 million dollars and payment of this colossal sum raised many eyebrows and apparently the United Nations were concerned about the transaction of this money to the terrorists purportedly to get Pakistani and Indian hostages released. I must say if Mr Edhi was involved in collecting the moeny no one would have raised any question because Mr Edhi is most honest and religious person but as far as Ishrat Ebad is concerned I would not make any further comments. His biodata speaks volumes of his honesty. I intend to visit Mr Burney's office in the UK which is located only a few miles where I live.

  5. Guys, Burney has no association with MQM or Ishrat ul Ibad! Since the end of the hostages episode, how many times have you heard of Burney with Ibad? I even watched a show of him criticising MQM and other political parties for what has gone on in Karachi just a couple of days ago.

I think he is the best person to start this campaign, he is popular in Pakistan and has experience in gathering public opinion.

I really pray he is successful in this effort as well.
