Hundreds of people including rain affected have taken out protest rally from National Bank Chowk in Jhuddo town under the banner of Awami Tehreek Jhuddo to protest against the district administrations failure to provide relief goods to the all affectees living in makeshift tents and to shift them to safer locations on Monday.
Protesters led by leaders Ayaz Khoso, Liaqat Memon advocate and Mir Faiz Hussain Talpure , carried banners and placards marched through main roads and reached the Awami House, where they said that relief goods were being distributed on the basis of political affiliation in Taluka Jhuddo and real affected people were being deprived of their rights. They accused officials of favouring PPP workers and lamented the PPP-based relief goods distribution committees on union council basis in Taluka Jhuddo. They said thousands of people were living under open skies on roadsides and in make shift tents without government relief. They demanded higher authorities take immediate notice and ensure the discrimination ends.
Taluka Jhoddo still inundated:
A report states that all villages in union councils of Jhuddo Taluka including Jhuddo, Aahori, Dilawar Hussain and Roshanabad were still inundated under saline water and affected villagers were living in make shift tents, open skies and government buildings. It added that a total of 1800 rice bags, 3 trucks of relief goods and 1000 tents had been provided to Taluka Jhuddo for distribution. Sources confirmed discrimination had been made in distribution of relief goods in Taluka Jhuddo and after complaints were received the district government had dismissed the relief goods distribuition committees set up on union council basis in Taluka Jhuddo. Subsequently, revenue officials were directed to distribute relief goods among the deserving. Sources also said that distributed rice was also being sold at various shops in Jhuddo markets.
Academic activities were suspended after the rainfall in Taluka Jhuddo as school buildings were also inundated. Schools in Jhuddo town were being to accommodate flood affectees. In the southern region of Jhuddo town near Naokot town stagnant water levels were reduced and water flow improved in the Puran Nullah following the removal of illegal encroachments on the Puran Nullah across Jhuddo town . However, notables including former Union Council Nazim Jhuddo Aslam Kaim Khani, Khalid Pervez Sadaf and others demanded the Sindh chief minister and Sindh governor to take immediate notice of the inadequate supply of relief goods in the worst affected Taluka Jhuddo of district Mirpurkhas where over 100,000 people had been affected by the flooding.
