9 primary school teachers fired over fake documents

Nine female primary school teachers (PSTs) were terminated from their services for having fake educational documents by the Karak executive district officer (EDO) after thorough investigations of the documents of the teachers from the respective educational boards and universities.
Education Department sources said about 150 teachers, both male and female, of various cadres had been recruited in 2010 under endorsement no 4964-70 and added that when the management cadre EDO Haziqur Rehman Khattak took charge as the Karak EDO he sent documents of the newly-recruited teachers to the respective educational boards and universities for verification before releasing their salaries. The sources added that in first phase the documents of hundreds of teachers were verified and the documents of nine female teachers of PST cadre were found to be bogus.
The salaries of the verified teachers were released and the nine female PST teachers were terminated from service with immediate effect. Talking to Pakistan Today, Karak education EDO Haziqur Rehman Khattak said the verification process was in progress and if other teachers were found having fake documents, action would be taken against them too. Khattak promised a series of surprise visits after Eidul Fitr to check on ghost schools and teachers and promised action against them.
The EDO vowed to address all genuine problems faced by teachers and promised to restore the trust of parents in state-run educational institutions.
