National Assembly speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza said that that the ill planning of WAPDA and World Bank on LBOD project resulted in losses worth billions of rupees in the Badin District.
According to a message received by deputy director (information) PID Badin, Fehmida said this while briefing the media at DCO Office Badin. She said that federal, provincial, and district governments have been catering to the situation on their own sources, and neither anyone from the international community, nor any of the social agencies extended support to the rain-affected people of Badin. She further said that 414 relief camps have been established, and two lakh displaced people were encamped in various relief camps that were providing food, and other essential commodities.
She further said that under the directive of the president and prime minister, a comprehensive plan for the redesigning of LBOD project would be made with the consultation of elected representatives from the districts so that people of Badin do not face such a situation again.
