15 more killed in Karachi

Despite repeated claims and assurances by Interior Minister Rehman Malik of restoring peace to Karachi, 15 more people, including two children, were killed in sporadic incidents of targeted killings on Sunday, taking the death toll in the five-day violence to 95.
Six slaughtered bodies were found stuffed in gunny bags form across the city, while nine others were shot to death in the tension-filled streets of the country’s economic powerhouse. Per details, unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on a man in Korangi No 5, killing him on the spot. Assailants shot dead a rickshaw driver near Bismillah hotel In Pak Colony, while unidentified attackers shot dead Faqeer Muhammad near Qatar Hospital in Organi.
In another incident, police recovered two bodies in gunny bags from an abandoned area in Orangi. The victims were identified as Faisal and Zeeshan, both Pashtuns and residents of Qasba Colony. Another body was recovered from Pak Colony. The deceased was identified as Rizwan, resident of Garden. Separately, two children were shot dead and a man severely injured when unidentified assailants opened fire in Mehmoodabad late on Saturday.
Locals blocked the main road for hours in protest and set three vehicles on fire, as well as two houses of Pashtun families living in the area. A man was killed and another injured when unidentified attackers opened fire near Safari Park on University Road, while a body was found in a gunny bag below the Teen Hatti Bridge.
Police found a body from Lyari Nullah in Machar Colony precincts, while another body was found packed into a gunny bag from Sector 9-E area of Orangi. An armed clash between two rival groups in Korangi’s Bilal Colony resulted in the death of one man, while at least five others sustained bullet injuries. Gohar Rehman Khan, a cobbler, was killed near Qatar Mor in Orangi when unidentified armed men opened fire on him while he was working in his wooden cabin.
Another man, Adeel, was killed in Sector 7-E area of Orangi. Police said he had been abducted from his house the previous night. Three more bodies were recovered from Tariq Road, Shah Faisal Colony and Malir. Meanwhile, the Sindh IGP commissioned a three-member committee headed by the DIG East to probe an attack on a police van in Chakra Goth.
