Pak-US relations

Pak-US relations were established in 1951 but the US used this relationship for its own benefit and it never supported Pakistan in times of crisis. The serious disaster of Pak-US relations appeared when in 1965 war the US suspended arms aid to Pakistan and left us alone in the battlefield.

The US-ally drama did not finish there; they gathered again and developed relations on new strategies. But there appeared Pak-US controversy on the issue of nuclear bomb development in Pakistan. The United States suspended aid and assistance once again. It also imposed serious sanctions on Pakistan.

With the start of 21st century the world had to face the issue of terrorism. The 9/11 brought about the war on terrorism. This war rejoined both allies, following trade relations and investments in Pakistan by the United States. In theory, this was US war but practically Pakistan has to pay much more for it. The operations conducted by combined forces in the tribal areas of Pakistan caused countless causalities.

Moreover, Pakistan’s image of a terrorist country in the world got birth. Many countries cut off their trade relations with Pakistan, feeling that their citizens are in danger. This resulted in Pakistan’s economy being totally damaged. The US has violated our sovereignty many times. But after the reaction on Abbottabad operation, the US is again thinking about suspending aid and assistance.

I think Pakistan should now make friends more carefully.
